The Chairman of the Najaf Chamber of Commerce, Eng. Haider Al-Athari, participated in the fourth session of the Joint Governmental Committee for Economic Cooperation between the Republic of Armenia and the Republic of Iraq, representing the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce, which was held in the Armenian capital, Yerevan, on August 26, 2025.

During the official session, chaired by Armenian Minister of Economy Gevorg Baboyan and Iraqi Minister of Agriculture Dr. Abbas Al-Maliki, prospects for developing economic and trade relations between the two countries were discussed in the fields of trade, industry, agriculture, energy, advanced technologies, digitalization, healthcare, infrastructure, and regional cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meetings, Engineer Haider Al-Athari signed two memoranda of understanding between the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce and the Armenian side. The first was with the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Armenia, and the second with the Union of Industrialists and Businessmen in Armenia. These memoranda will contribute to strengthening economic partnerships and opening up broader horizons for joint cooperation.

The session also featured an Armenian-Iraqi Business Forum attended by more than 60 businessmen from various sectors. Mr. Hamid Al-Ramahi, a member of the Board of Directors of the Najaf Chamber of Commerce, participated on the Iraqi side. Investment and cooperation opportunities were reviewed, and the importance of exchanging visits and organizing economic forums in the coming period was emphasized.
