The Chamber receives the German Ambassador to Iraq

The Najaf Chamber of Commerce received the German Ambassador to Iraq, Ms. Christiane Homan, and her accompanying delegation.
The chairman of the chamber, Engineer Haider Al-Athari, said that Najaf is one of the first cities in the industrial, tourism and agricultural fields, which qualifies it to make partnerships with German companies in various fields.
The German ambassador emphasized that the private sector is the only way to build a strong economy and the experiences of countries prove this, referring to the contract to guarantee investments that was signed between the Iraqi Bank for Trade and the German Commercial Bank to encourage investment projects in the private sector, including the glass factory in Najaf, calling for joint search for other investments.
She pointed out that investors are not only looking for security, but there are other important factors such as the speed of procedures and ease of financial transfers, adding that corruption and bureaucracy make Iraq not the first choice for investors.
For his part, Al-Athari referred to the directions taken by the government to get rid of corruption and bureaucracy through electronic transactions and digital transformation, as well as facilities for financial transfers and the Central Bank’s move to urge banks to conclude agreements with intermediary banks.
The meeting also discussed opportunities for cooperation between the two countries in the field of energy through clean energy and the exploitation of associated gas.
