The meeting, chaired by Prime Minister Mohammed Shi’a Al-Sudani and attended by the Ministers of Finance, Planning, Construction, Housing, Municipalities and Public Works, witnessed the approval of steps to localize industries, attract investments and partner with foreign companies.
The meeting also discussed the mechanisms of introducing foreign investments into the Iraqi economy within the course of action of the Fund’s projects, targeting the localization of various industries in Iraq, including the establishment of a factory for the manufacture of passenger buses, in partnership with a specialized international company;
and the request to establish a factory for electronic tablet computers and their use in schools within the educational process.
The agenda of the meeting included discussing the requests submitted by the private sector for the purpose of building school buildings, as the requests and needs exceeded what was offered for the project in its first phase.
This is in addition to discussing the partnership file with American, British and Saudi companies in the field of agriculture, irrigation techniques. Industrial gas liquefaction, road lighting and bridges.
The meeting also witnessed the determination of the dates allocated for the launch of the (rent and own) project, in order to contribute to the development of practical and economic solutions to the housing crisis.
It is noteworthy that Engineer Haider Al-Athari, Chairman of the Najaf Chamber of Commerce, participates as one of the board members of the Iraq Fund for Development, which aims to improve the investment environment and promote sustainable economic and social development in Iraq by developing and diversifying non-oil economic resources, attracting capital, technology and manpower, and transforming them into feasible investment opportunities.
