Scientific seminar on the prospects of postgraduate studies in commercial arbitration

The Najaf Chamber of Commerce, in cooperation with Al-Alamein Institute for Graduate Studies, organized a scientific seminar on the prospects of graduate studies in arbitration. The seminar began with a video presentation introducing Al-Alamein Institute for Graduate Studies and its academic programs, along with a presentation introducing the Iraqi Center for International Arbitration. This was followed by a speech from the Dean of the Institute and a representative of the Najaf Bar Association.
The seminar included four main themes addressing the institutional environment of arbitration, the institute’s curriculum for the Master of Arbitration program, the strategic importance of this specialization, and judicial oversight and legislative integration. The head of the Najaf Chamber of Commerce, Engineer Zuhair Muhammad Ridha Sharba, also participated, presenting a paper on the role of arbitration centers.
Contractual gaps, academic partnerships, future vision, and future trends for commercial arbitration centers, with a focus on the importance of developing the commercial arbitration system, supporting the investment environment, and enhancing the private sector’s confidence in alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.
The seminar concluded with an open discussion session, during which views and ideas were exchanged on the reality of arbitration in Iraq and the prospects for its academic and institutional development in line with the requirements of economic development and support for the business environment.
